HOW
DOES IT WORK?
You receive training through a variety of methods and
learn the INCITE TO WRITE! strategies (See
Training). After the training you are a certified instructor
of the program. The strategies are fun and easy to learn
and fun to teach. The Training Manual is about 170 pages and contains
over 80 copyrighted strategies that are diverse, creative, and
successful winners with kids. The Manual is user-friendly and
color-coded.
You teach in the geographic area where you live. This territory
is exclusively yours. We will work together to create a territory
where you feel assured of success.
WHEN
DO I TEACH?
Summers
and after school during the school year. Summertime is the most
lucrative: a writing camp that is fun is very appealing to parents
who are looking for summer activities for their kids (See
Earnings). You may wish to hold both morning and afternoon
sessions during some weeks, and other weeks just have one session
in the morning. During the school year, classes are best held
after school from 3-5:30 during the months of September, October,
November, January, February, and March. You do not need to teach
the whole summer, nor do you need to teach 5 days a week during
the school year, but there is a minimum amount of classes you
must hold in order to adequately serve the children in your area.
WHERE
DO I TEACH?
Your home is best. Why? It is easier and more convenient for you;
it saves you time; it is more comfortable, and it's free. You
can control the environment; you can be creative; you can have
more fun. Most of the working population dream of working out
of their home. Here's your chance! For the kids, it is much more
enjoyable and a welcomed alternative learning environment to the
classroom. They love to sit on the floor on mats or bring a pillow,
take their shoes off, and eat popcorn outside or in your kitchen
during break. And in between a lot of writing and critical thinking
gets done, painlessly.
If
you can't or don't choose to use your home, you can hold classes
in a church or other center, or share space with yoga, dance,
or martial arts studios. The more comfortably you can set the
room up, the better.
Teaching in Schools: During the school year it is useful to offer
the writing program at one or two schools as part of their afterschool
program. You have a ready "audience" and do not have
to do any marketing. Classes at school are helpful to parents
who work full time and are not able to drive their kids to your
afternoon classes at home. It is also an excellent way to get
known to the principal, teachers and the parents. When you teach
in an afterschool program you generally teach one hour immediately
after school is over.
YIKES! I HAVE TO MARKET?
Not
too much; it is easier than you think, and about as inexpensive
as marketing can get. INCITE
TO WRITE!SM
is a "Build It and They Will Come" program! There is
a ready and eager market for this program. Not just any writing
program (although there are none out there), but a writing program
that knows how to be fun and active and develop the critical thinking
skills so essential for writing. Parents know how important writing
is for success in school and later in college. Making sure their
child knows how to write is a priority that comes before soccer
and dance lessons. Principals and teachers are also eager for
help. If your program will help their students score better on
state-standardized tests, they are happy to allow you to distribute
flyers. So your job is to let parents know what you are doing,
and if you get the word out, you will fill up your classes. Flyers
in the schools, flyers in libraries, inexpensive advertisements
in PTA newsletters, and a few inexpensive ads in parent/family
magazines will do it. Additional marketing strategies are discussed
in your training.
WHAT
IS THE COST?
The initial cost or licensing fee for the complete
INCITE TO WRITE! program is $5,000 or $500, depending
on which payment option you choose (see below*). The
INCITE TO WRITE! program is divided into 3 sections
or levels, so to minimize risk you can also license and pay for
one section at a time, as noted below.
Once
you enter into a licensing agreement, you are entitled to teach
the INCITE TO WRITE! program and to receive training in
the strategies. It is not a franchise, and there are no further
licensing fees. It is essentially your own business and everything
you make you keep. You remain part of the Incite to Write family,
in that you can receive continuing support, sign up for free teleconferences
and share suggestions with other licensees. The families you serve
are also part of Incite to Write and receive a monthly newsletter
as part of their $25 annual registration/membership fee.
You
will find if you look into similar educational service franchises
on the internet that they require an investment of at least $10,000,
plus you must pay back a percentage of all earnings. The INCITE
TO WRITE! licensing arrangement is set up to be simple and
fair. Empowering women and men to flourish in their own business
and earn the full amount from their labor is as important to me
as teaching kids to write.
The
INCITE TO WRITE! program is very lucrative. You can receive
an average part-time income of $31,000+ annually (with some variation
depending on where you live) for a very small amount of time while
providing a much-needed service. (See
Earnings).
*There
are three payment options. If you pay the full amount up front,
the licensing fee totals $5,000: you receive and are trained in
the complete program. If you prefer, you may pay $500 upon signing
and make monthly payments of $500 for one year, for a total licensing
fee of $6,000. The third payment option is to pay for and receive
training in one section at a time: Section I: $2,000; Section
II: $1,500; Section III: $1,500. Further details regarding each
of these options is set forth in the Licensing Agreement.
